Located on the former site of the home of industrialist John Deere, this Beaux-Arts style Post Office building was built in 1910 at a cost of $157,000. It served the public until 1935 when postal services moved to a new building at 17th Street and 6th Avenue.
Willis of Illinois, Inc. purchased the building in 2009. The company used the postal entry lobby as a welcoming reception area for their insurance business. The building was also previously the offices of USI Insurance Services LLC.
