Project Detail

More than $85 million in public and private dollars have been invested to redevelop the former industrial area known Bass Street Landing at the base of 17th Street along Moline’s riverfront. The three project phases took almost a decade to complete and now provide Moline visitors with locations to stay, eat and be entertained as well as supporting the business community with a new U.S. Operations Center for KONE, Inc. and location for the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce among others.

Phase I of the construction of Bass Street Landing included RiverStation, a mixed-use riverfront development featuring retail, restaurant and office space, along with a new public plaza, known as The Plaza at Bass Street Landing. RiverStation’s first floor is home to Bass Street Chop House, a prime steakhouse featuring the finest cuts of prime and choice dry aged cuts of meat and jet-fresh seafood; Baker’s Street, a premium cigars, tobacco, coffee, and gift shop; and Pub 1848. Other commercial residents on the remaining floors include financial planning, dentistry, and the regional economic development organizations – the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce and Quad Cities Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Outdoor events and concerts are held almost nightly during the summer months on the Plaza at Bass Street Landing, which features a stage and light -strewn public space. New to the plaza this winter was an all-weather outdoor skating rink, providing hours of outdoor fun for visitors and residents alike. This first phase of Bass Street Landing provided a connector trail linking the plaza area to the Great River Trail bike path along the Mississippi River. The Great River Trail provides more than 60 miles of bike and walking paths which go all the way to Savanna, Illinois, along the Mississippi to the north. It is one of the nation’s most utilized and recognized trails.

Phase II of Bass Street Landing included Stoney Creek Hotel and its adjacent Conference Center, providing the downtown with its second option for overnight guests. Other Phase II improvements include completion of the access road that serves the City’s water plant, improvements to 2nd Avenue intersection, sidewalk along 2nd Avenue, and completion of 17th and 18th Streets.

The final phase of Bass Street Landing was the construction of KONE Centre, a new 8-story, platinum LEED certified building along the Mississippi Riverfront. This building and adjacent parking deck provide an iconic focal point for the development. The KONE Centre boasts outdoor views from 97 percent of the floor space; utilizes cutting-edge elevator technology from its namesake – KONE, Inc.; and is the first platinum LEED-certified core and shell building in the State of Illinois.

A more than $40 million dollar investment in the downtown.
